Future Racecards (Entries)

Updated 3 November 2026

RaceMetrics shows the entries for every British and Irish race days before the declared racecard is published, from the five-day stage onwards, with every horse's RaceMetrics Ratings already worked out. You can start on a big Saturday on the Monday.

Finding the entries

On the dashboard's Racecards tab, the date strip runs up to a week ahead. A date with entries carries a stage tag: 5-day, 4-day, 2-day or overnight, how far the races have come towards their declared cards. Pick a date and its meetings appear as tiles beside any declared cards, each meeting marked with its stage. The Handicap, Runners, Class, Prize and Age filters work on the entries as well.

The entries card

Open a race and you get the full list of entries. On any paid plan every horse carries its current RaceMetrics Rating (H), the ratings of its trainer and jockey, and the Combined Score that rolls the connections' ratings into one figure, exactly as on the racecard. The top Horse Rating and Combined Score in the race are picked out in gold. Free members see the entries without the ratings.

Beside the ratings: the card number and draw (once they are made), age, the weight with any penalty marked, the official rating, the trainer and jockey, and how the horse ran last time. Click a horse's row to open its form lines underneath, as on a normal racecard. Click any heading to sort.

What changes, and the change log

Entries change on the way to the declared card. Weights and jockey bookings arrive at the 4-day stage, the draw with the overnight declarations, and horses come out at every stage. The card is read again through the day. A horse taken out stays at the foot of the list, greyed out, so you can see who has gone. Underneath, the change log records every change in plain words, newest first: a jockey booked or changed, a new weight or number, a horse taken out or back in, a race divided, or an off time moved.

The going shown with the entries is the going as published at that stage; it is often revised before the off.

Moving round the day

The menu button opens the race menu: every date with cards or entries, and each meeting's races, so you can jump straight to any race. The arrow buttons go to the previous or next race at the same course, or the previous or next race by off time across every meeting, declared races and entries together.

When the declared card is published

Once a race's declared card is out, opening it takes you to the normal racecard instead, with everything the racecard carries.

Big-race entries, further ahead

Some big races close their entries weeks or months before the five-day stage: the Guineas, the Morgiana, the Coral Gold Cup. The Big-race entries page, in the Racecards menu and on the dashboard, lists those races with the date, course, trip, prize and number of entries, and Flat / Jumps and Great Britain / Ireland filters. Open one for the same card: the current RaceMetrics Ratings on any paid plan, the weight and official rating where they have been set, the last run and the form, and horses taken out with a change log. Fields this far out are long, and most of the horses will come out, so read it as who is being aimed at the race. Once the race reaches the five-day stage it moves to the date strip, and from there to the declared racecard.
