As of this morning, two new tools are live in the System Builder for Proform Premium members. Goal Seek finds the single best rule to add to a system you've already built. Auto-build goes further and builds a whole system toward a target you set. Both are watched over by the same discipline that runs through the rest of the builder: no suggestion survives unless the data genuinely supports it.
Goal Seek — the one rule worth adding
Every system you build eventually hits the same question: what would make this better? Goal Seek answers it directly. Pick a target — strike rate, return, or A/E — set the minimum sample you'll accept, and press Find. It tests hundreds of candidate rules against your system — every going band, every class, every field size, every rating rank — and ranks what it finds by how much each one would lift your target, with the sample size and a significance score beside every claim.
It's strict on purpose. A suggestion is only promoted if the improvement clears a proper statistical bar, so you're not chasing flukes, and each one carries a one-click robustness check against the last 12 months. See one you like, click Apply, and it becomes a rule — then run again and see the new picture.
One warning from the makers: every rule you add shrinks your sample. Add one or two strong suggestions — not ten weak ones.
Auto-build — a system built for you, honestly
Auto-build is Goal Seek on autopilot. Tell it what you want to reach — say, a 5% return at Betfair prices while keeping at least 500 runs — and it builds a system toward that target one rule at a time, live in a step log you can watch.
What makes it trustworthy rather than reckless is the discipline built into every step: the selection runs on the earlier years, and every candidate rule must also hold up on the most recent twelve months — a period it never trained on. If an improvement only exists in the past, it's rejected, and the log tells you why. When it hits your target, or decides it can't get there honestly, it stops.
You get a finished, editable system — not a black box. Every rule visible, every step explained, and the final say always yours: nothing is applied until you load the draft into the builder.
Built to keep working, not just to have worked
Plenty of tools will find you a system that worked. These are built to find one that keeps working — and to refuse to hand you anything else. "Stopped to avoid over-fitting" is a feature, not a failure.
Goal Seek's walkthrough is above; watch Auto-build put it on autopilot here, or start with the full System Builder guide. Two more refinement tools — Trim, which tells you which rules to remove, and Frontier, which sweeps a threshold to find its sweet spot — follow shortly.
The System Builder is included with Proform Premium.
