Each trainer's temperature is their Form Temperature, the same figure as the pills on the racecard: the yard's last 14 days, up to the day before racing, scored from 0 to 100 against its own five-season strike rate. 95 or more (hot) or 5 or under (cold) means a fortnight that far from the yard's usual comes up by luck less than 1 time in 20. A yard needs 50 runs in five seasons and 3 in the fortnight to be scored, so big and small stables are judged on the same scale. Hot yards do win more often than usual, and the market knows it: this is a way of reading form, not a tip. How to read this page
