We sell two things, on two sites, and the most common question we get is which one to start with. It is a fair question — from the outside it is not obvious. This is the long answer, with the short one first.
The short answer
If you work in a browser and want the ratings, racecards, form tools, Ask RaceMetrics and the System Builder, you want RaceMetrics Pro. It is £75 a month, £49.99 for your first month, and it runs on anything with a browser.
If you also want the Windows desktop software, the Race Guides, the Bet, Lay and Trade Finder, or bulk data export, you want Proform Premium. It is £97.50 a month and includes everything in RaceMetrics Pro. The £22.50 difference buys the desktop software and the Proform website, nothing else.
If you are on a Mac and do not need bulk export, the decision is made for you: RaceMetrics Pro. There is no Mac build of the desktop software.
RaceMetrics is the website
RaceMetrics runs in a browser. Mac, PC, phone, tablet — nothing to install.
It carries the RaceMetrics Ratings for horses, trainers, jockeys, sires, dams, damsires and owners, the racecards and form study tools, saved patterns and daily alerts, and the System Builder for building and back-testing your own systems.
It is sold on a monthly ladder. Free gives you the RM7 competition and one meeting a day. Basic (£10) opens every racecard, the A-Z runners page, What Wins and the daily Tips. Enterprise (£25) adds the advanced racecard toolkit — AI Race Cards, Future Form, Draw & Pace, Trip Predictor, Handicap Analysis and Market Movers. RaceMetrics Pro (£75) is the research tier: everything below it plus the System Builder, Ask RaceMetrics, My Ratings, Going Predictor, Ratings Analysis, Command Centre and ten saved My Card layouts. Current prices are always on the pricing page.
Proform Premium adds the desktop software
Proform Premium is a separate subscription, sold from the Proform side. It includes full RaceMetrics Pro access and adds two things.
The first is the Proform desktop software: a Windows application holding the full database back to 1997, with its own System Builder, research stats, Power Ratings, ratings import and data export. The desktop software is the only route to bulk CSV export. If you build your own models and want the data inside your own spreadsheet or code, this is the one you need.
The second is the Proform website: the Race Guides (race-by-race analysis with form, statistics, pace, draw, connections, bloodlines and trading data in one place), the Bet, Lay and Trade Finder for filtering qualifying selections on the move, Fast Results, and daily stats alerts.
It is a Windows application. There is no Mac build. Some customers run it through a virtualisation layer, but that is a separate licence at your own cost.

Which one
- "I want ratings, racecards, form study and system building, on whatever device is in front of me" → RaceMetrics Pro.
- "I build my own models and want the raw data in my own system" → Proform Premium. Bulk export only exists in the desktop software.
- "I read a race from a guide and want the Finder tools for bets, lays and trades" → Proform Premium. The Race Guides and the Finder are on the Proform website and nowhere else.
- "I am on a Mac" → RaceMetrics Pro, unless you need bulk export badly enough to run Windows in a virtual machine.
- "I just want to try the ratings and the cards first" → start on RaceMetrics Basic or Enterprise. Everything carries over; there is nothing to migrate when you move up the ladder.
- "I want sectionals" → either, plus the add-on. See below.
Two things people get caught by
Sectional data is not in either subscription
Sectionals come from a third-party timing supplier and are a separate £50 a month add-on, available on RaceMetrics Pro or Proform Premium. The add-on has to be arranged through us — a subscription taken out directly with the supplier does not enable access here, and we have had customers wait out a direct subscription before they could start. Email us and we will set it up.
There is no in-place upgrade between the two
RaceMetrics and Proform Premium are bought from different places. If you are on one and want the other, the first subscription is cancelled and refunded pro-rata, and you subscribe to the second. It is not a switch inside your account. Moving within the RaceMetrics ladder — Basic to Enterprise to Pro — is a normal plan change.
Frequently asked
Does Proform Premium include RaceMetrics?
Yes. Proform Premium includes everything in RaceMetrics Pro — the ratings, the System Builder, Ask RaceMetrics, My Ratings and the rest — plus the desktop software and the Proform website. You do not need both subscriptions.
What does the extra £22.50 a month actually buy?
The Windows desktop software with the full database since 1997, and the Proform website: Race Guides, the Bet, Lay and Trade Finder, Fast Results and daily stats alerts. If you would not use any of those, RaceMetrics Pro is the right price.
Can I use Proform Premium on a Mac?
The RaceMetrics half, yes — it is a website. The desktop software is Windows only. Some customers run it in a virtualisation layer such as Parallels, at their own cost.
Is the System Builder in RaceMetrics Pro the same as the desktop one?
They are different tools on the same data. The web System Builder has 170+ filters over results back to 2018, P/L at SP and Betfair SP, staking-plan simulation, holdout validation and a daily qualifiers hub. The desktop software reaches further back and is the one with export. Most members who have both use the web builder day to day and the desktop for export and deep research.
Which should I buy first if I am not sure?
RaceMetrics Pro. It is the lower price, it runs everywhere, and if you later find you need export or the Race Guides, moving to Premium is a cancel-and-resubscribe with a pro-rata refund, not a lost month.
If you are still not sure which fits, email us and describe what you want to do with it. That is a quicker route than guessing.
