RaceMetrics has added the classic ratings workflow to My Ratings: give each race's winner your own figure, and ratings for the entire field are derived from your own pounds-per-length scale.
How it works
From the My Ratings page, create a new scale by choosing "rate the winner — we rate the rest". Set the cost of a beaten length in pounds for each combination of race type, distance and going. You can apply weight-for-age adjustments if required. Name the scale and create it.
Each day, select "rate yesterday" on your scale's card. You'll see each race with a single input box beside the winner's name. Type your figure for the winner and press calculate. RaceMetrics derives a figure for every beaten horse, adjusted for the weight it carried and the lengths it lost at your pounds per length.
Save the completed race and move to the next. Your winner's figure and the derived field are stored together. The arrows let you navigate back through any days you've missed.
Importing existing figures
If you have figures already recorded in a spreadsheet, you can import them as a winners sheet. The file needs only five columns: date, time, course, horse name and your rating for the winner. RaceMetrics checks each row before importing and flags any mismatches — such as a row naming a horse that finished second — with the line number and reason, leaving valid rows intact.
Re-importing is safe: it replaces the race's figure and re-derives the field from your updated winner rating.
Viewing your ratings
Open any race card you've rated. The My column displays your figures for every runner, with the top-rated highlighted in gold. Your winner's figure is carried through the whole field on your own scale.
My Ratings tools — today's qualifiers, back-tests and the scorecard — all work with these figures.
