Finding a Jockey Profile
Click any jockey name in a racecard, result, or search to open their profile. You can also search for jockeys directly using the site search or Ask RaceMetrics tool.
The RaceMetrics Rating
Every jockey carries a RaceMetrics Rating that updates after each ride. The rating reflects recent performance weighted by race quality. A rising rating indicates a jockey in form; a falling one suggests a quieter spell.
The rating history chart on the overview tab plots this over time, making trends immediately visible.
Recent Results
The results tab lists every recent ride with date, course, horse, finishing position, and rating change. Click any race to see the full result. This gives you a quick read on current form and the calibre of horses they are riding.
Breakdowns
Jockey breakdowns reveal specialisms that are not always obvious. The Going breakdown shows whether a jockey performs better on fast or soft ground. Course breakdowns highlight track specialists — some jockeys have outstanding records at particular courses.
Class breakdowns show where a jockey operates most profitably. Some excel in lower grades; others step up at the top level. Distance breakdowns can reveal whether a jockey is more effective over sprint or staying trips.
Saving Patterns from Breakdowns
If you spot a profitable angle — say a jockey with a strong record at Cheltenham on Soft ground — click the row to save it as a pattern. RaceMetrics will then highlight matching runners in future racecards.
Practical Use
When assessing a race, compare the jockey profiles of the main contenders. A jockey booking can tell you a lot — a leading jockey choosing one horse over another in the same stable is a meaningful signal. Combine jockey form with horse form for a more complete picture.
